Intense Pulsed Light Information

Intense Pulsed Light

Intense Pulsed Light treatments are used to temporarily reduce the visible attributes of cellulite within the body. These treatments were developed as non-invasive photo rejuvenation treatments that were used to improve the appearance of the skin. The results of this treatment include a more even tone and overall smoothness of the skin.

Pulsed light technology is somewhat similar to laser technology but differs slightly. When a laser is used, it uses one continuous light wavelength which is penetrated into the deeper tissue layers of the skin. Pulsed light uses multiple wavelengths of light, which, when delivered into the skin, are energy concentrated at all different tissue levels. This allows the light to be absorbed by the melanin in the skin therefore encouraging the production of collagen.

Cellulite causes the skin to take on a lumpy appearance, but intense pulse light can fix this. The intense pulse light treatment causes the body to produce more collagen and when this happens, the skin affected will take on a smoother, more evenly toned appearance. The results are in no way permanent, but repeated sessions can greatly reduce the visibility of cellulite.

Treatments usually occur about every three weeks, and can take anywhere from fifteen minutes to a half an hour. During Intense Pulsed Light treatments the pulsed light energy is delivered into the skin at different and specific settings in order to maximize results. It could take up to five treatments in order to achieve a patients' desired outcome, but some have had as many as eight.
